Appearance
Slender, strong, dark-haired, f i t, beautiful
[/b], tall, blue-eyed, tannedThe first immediately apparent trait of Miss Peyton Caldwell is just how pretty she is. Her face is the oval shaped, not too long and not too rounded, instead with a nice pointed chin and high cheekbones. Her eyes are a gorgeous dark blue color, spaced a nice distance apart just above her cheekbones, and are framed by long, dark, thick lashes. Her long, thin nose is straight and perfectly balances out her relatively large eyes. And finishing off her beautiful face are nice, pink, full lips. Shoulder length, choppily cut hair frames her face, the dark brown locks accenting it nicely. Her bands hang almost to the end of her nose and are parted down the middle, laying on either side of her face. Often the top half of Peyton's hair is clipped back, keeping it out of the way of her ears and from hanging in front of her eyes.
Her face is gorgeous--anyone could see that--and her body only supplies to her beauty. Tall and slender, she has a body that many girls would be jealous of. Unfortunately she's a bit lacking in the curve department, but hey, you can't win at everything, and it's not like she has no curves; her breasts and hips are just a bit less curvy than Peyton would like. Peyton has naturally tan skin, but she spend a lot of time outside so her tan is even darker. The time she spends being active outside has also left her very fit and muscular--not grotesquely so, but you can tell that she is strong just from looking at her. A dark blue tattoo covers her left bicep while a light blue one is on her right; she acquired these during a bout of rebelliousness in her teenage years and wears them proudly.
Peyton carries herself in a confident, self-assured way; even if she weren't so pretty, her demeanor would probably draw your eyes in a room. Finally, Peyton's wardrobe consists largely of the colors blue and black. Dark half tanktops that bare her midriff are quite common; when it's cold she wears a leather jacket over top. Lately she's had a thing for sashes that her parents find odd, but she's an adult so they don't say anything. She wears fingerless black gloves and blue shorts that show off her legs nicely coupled with leg-clinging dark leather boots. Finally she wears quite a bit of jewelry; necklaces, earrings, bracelets, often in shades of blue or gold. On some the whole blue color scheme might be too much, but Peyton can pull off just about anything--and blue is a good color on her, anyway.
Personality
Short, sarcastic, ignorant, e m p a t h e t i c, reckless, caring, gentle, street smart
Peyton's personality isn't nearly as inviting as her looks. One may expect someone so pretty to be flirty, seductive, flaunting herself every chance she gets. This is not so with Peyton. Instead, she is abrupt in conversation, finding no need for small talk or excessive chatter. Her sarcastic attitude and odd sense of humor have left many puzzling or offended. However, she feels guilty over such things easily and is quick to apologize. Peyton even goes to such extremes as to not be entirely aware of how pretty she is; she is quite ignorant of many things, and that is one of those such things. She has trouble seeing when people--male or female--like her, and has a naive, innocent view of many things in the world, such as strangers that clearly give dangerous vibes and people in general.
Fortunately this has caused her to be quite empathetic. She has a strong desire to take care of people, especially friends and family. When one of them is upset, she's right there with them. When one is happy, she is thrilled and happy with them. Unfortunately, her trusting nature has branded her as 'reckless' among those her know her. She's known to plow headfirst into things just because someone wants her to, or go to extremes for someone she cares about, like her younger sister.
Peyton could ace an athletic exam every time; she loves to exercise and jog and do yoga. But her math and science skills are less than average; she struggles a bit with reading, even. She was never at the top of her class, or even in the middle, during school, barely managing to keep up a C average when she was trying her best. In spite of this, Peyton is very knowledgeable of the outside world. She's very street smart; how to deal with dangers--she took self defense classes, where to find money, how to fend for yourself. The adult is excellent at understanding what makes someone a danger, and she can see it when it's someone else's problem, it's just when she's talking to the man that her judgment clouds over. So she is quite good at the traveling thing that she's began, in search of her little sister.
Overall, Peyton is a nice, calm soul who comes across as perhaps a bit rude.
History
When Peyton's mother, Samantha, found out she was pregnant, it was a massive shock.
Despite not meaning to become pregnant at that point in their lives, the married couple, Robert and Samantha Caldwell, accepted their fate and went along with it. Nine months after the discovery, little Peyton was born with pitch black hair. She had a normal, uneventful childhood, developing normally and how a baby should. She was soon talking and wobbling around, under her parents' watchful eyes. The duo loved Peyton, so much that they were ready for a second child. When their firstborn was two years of age, they began trying to get pregnant again.
Months came and passed and still, Samantha's pregnancy tests came up negative. Finally, the couple went to the doctor. The doctor ran a couple tests, and then they got the news. Samantha was sterile. She would have no more children.
Utterly depressed by this unexpected turn of events, Peyton's mother took to locking herself in her bedroom, leaving Robert to raise the child alone for a time. He grew resentful towards his wife over this period, angry that she left him to care for the baby by himself and hurt that she didn't want to play a part in Peyton's life. Peyton, being only three at the time, was blissfully unaware of the drama that went down between mother and father. As she grew older she knew only that Mommy and Daddy didn't always get along, and Daddy was the one who spanked her when he was angry enough with her. She developed an attitude as she grew, increasing the frequency of the spankings, and eventually Samantha, who was now more active in her child's life, and Robert decided another kid was needed to entertain their daughter.
And so Vivian, five years Peyton's younger, was adopted into the Caldwell family. Peyton instantly disliked the new addition; she understood that the child was adopted, was of no real relation to her, and she treated her that way. The new kid took her parents' attention off of Peyton, and Peyton resented her for it. Her parents told her that she was to be treated as part of the family, and their only rule was that Peyton not mention the baby was adopted.
Peyton lived many years of her life ignoring her adoptive sister and her annoying tendencies. Over the years she developed into a beautiful young lady, passing through the teenage years with minimal boy drama and sticking with the same group of friends. She was in the popular circle at school, and struggled with both math and science. She was a C-average student, and her parents never really pressured her to improve. As long as she was passing, they were fine with it.
At the age of nineteen, after Peyton had graduated high school, Samantha and Robert made the decision to tell the adopted daughter that she was just that--adopted. Their blood daughter secretly found it cruel that they kept her in the dark for fourteen long years about her true identity, but she went on about her business. Then Vivian decided she wanted to meet her real mother.
Perhaps the Caldwells would not have allowed Vivian to meet her birth mom if Peyton hadn't interceded on Vivian's behalf. She hadn't exactly grown to love her adoptive sister--yet--but she'd grown sympathetic toward her case, having experienced quite a few things in her nineteen years. She told her parents that they should let Vivian meet her mother, argued a bit, and finally, they agreed. Next time Vivian brought it up, they made the call.
Vivian met her mother and the woman left again, and everything seemed to be going smoothly. But Peyton had spent quite a bit of time studying Vivian, even if they'd never gotten particularly close, so she was the first to notice when she began to spiral into depression. Her compassionate side won out and Peyton finally made contact with her sister, comforting her during those difficult years of her life. She played make believe with her, sat with her, and the two just talked. Over the next two years, they forged an unbreakable bond--finally, they were sisters.
Peyton, now in her early twenties, was taking up an interest in men and quite enjoyed a night on the town with her friends. Vivian, however, had other ideas. She was a seriously clingy individual, becoming incredibly jealous whenever Peyton talked to someone or even smiled at someone that was not her younger sister. Anyone else would have been too annoyed with these antics to allow her to hang around anymore, but Peyton was much more patient. She'd grown very fond of her childlike little sister, very protective, and even when she yelled at her for being clingy or stuffy, she soon apologized and Vivian was quick to forgive.
Everything was going fine, though Peyton noticed her little sister was growing increasingly awkward around her and acting stranger and stranger, until one day very recently. She woke in the morning and there was no Vivian to greet her as usual. Perplexed and worried, she hurried downstairs and demanded to know where her sister was. Her parents gave no real answer, simply flushed and shook their heads. When they refused to respond, she demanded to know which way she had left--because clearly, Vivian was no longer here. They gave her a direction, and that morning, when Peyton was twenty-three years of age, she finally left her parents' house.
She was determined to find her sister, her best friend, and figure out just what it was that had caused her to run in the first place.

Peyton had packed her bag that morning and set out into Lacewing Town with only a vague idea as to where she was headed. The main problem was figuring out where her sister would have gone, and Vivian was as unpredictable as the winds.
So she walked into the town, following the familiar traffic flow and casting her eyes through her and Viv's favorite older haunts. Occasionally a vendor would try to stop her and get her to purchase something. She would wave them off with a smile and a 'no thank you, not today' and continue onward. Heads turned in her direction and men smiled, but she was used to this behavior and ignored it, writing it off as nothing.
A vendor stopped her as she walked by--"Would you like to buy some oranges, miss?" "No, thanks." "What about some peanuts? Only two pokedollars!" "No, I'm allergic."
At last she reached the end of the market area of Lacewing Town, and then she was off in search of the girl she called sister. She would look everywhere they used to hang out first--the park, that big twisted tree in the edge of the woods, the abandoned warehouse with the ivy growing up the side that they used to climb and get on the roof. From there she'd start looking places they didn't frequent as often.
One thing you couldn't say was that Peyton Caldwell didn't care about her little, childish sister. [/center]
