Appearance
Izzy has always been a textbook-case pretty boy, and he has hated every moment of it. Standing at 5'4" ("AND 3/4 THANK YOU") and weighing a meager 127 lbs, he is anything but intimidating. First off, he is by no means a paragon of gentlemanly cleanliness. He has a mess of naturally pastel pink hair on his head, never combed, and when it is, it is parted on the left... and that's about as much hair care as Izzy knows. The hair itself is somewhat long for a guy's, falling just about past his neck, some of it framing his face. It has a bit of his father's curls, the bangs wildly covering just above those bright, big blue eyes of his. Otherwise, Izzy has very angled features: a small, pointed nose of Merryweather heritage, a very angular jaw, and even his ears seem a bit pointed. He has somewhat small but rounded lips, often formed in an angry pout or being bitten in nervousness. When he's disturbed about something, some might notice he also tends to twitch his nose a bit, but he won't admit to ever doing something stupid like that.
As for the rest of Izzy, there's not much worthy of outstanding notice. He's got typical male broad shoulders, very defined collarbones, and a thin figure. What muscle he does have is from the dancing at raves he likes to attend back at home in Taranis City, and of course, any party he can crash himself. You can see some of that in his toned legs and stomach, but his arms, on the other hand, have only a scanty bit of muscle on them. He will deny ever being weak, but don't make him prove it. His pride will surely go down the drain.
But Izzy does at least make up for all this with his sense of style. He has a love for bold urban clothing, a memento from home, and is constantly seen in the latest and most outrageous. Most of the time, he is wearing his white hoodie jacket with black lining around the edges and two solid black stripes down the middle of the sleeves. Along with that, he typically wears black shirts and black jeans, but it's the accessories that are more important to him. Gloves, head caps, ties, belts, and even the earrings on his left ears...all necessary and all important. He would never leave home without some of his best accents. He figures if he can't be physically strong, at least he looks cool.
Personality
"They say I'm a wild card. Can't help it if you can't handle me!"
If there is one thing you should know about Izzy, it's that his pride means everything to him, and he believes that he could never fail at anything. He is the best! He is the greatest Normal Pok?mon trainer! He never loses! Or, so he keeps saying. This is all a terrible facade that Izzy puts up in front of other people. His Pok?mon and his good friends know that it's a really bad lie. The truth is Izzy hates to admit that he's NOT number one at anything. He doesn't want to be seen as vulnerable or weak by other people, so he likes to show off and puff up a false ego. Since his childhood, he's been picked on for being short and weak and has become quite sensitive to criticism over time because of it. He knows the world's not out to get him or anything, but sometimes he feels like no matter what he does, he won't ever meet people's expectations of him. This little tendency of his is also due in part to his mother's parents, who have always seen Izzy as nothing but a delinquent who embarrasses the Merryweather family.
However, it would be difficult for the Merryweather grandparents to stand by their beliefs, if they really knew their grandson. Izzy's dreams are the things that keep him motivated. He dreams one day of being a Master of Normal-type Pok?mon, as well as one of the top breeders in the Caligo region. Night and day, he is working at some task concerning Pok?mon care, such as figuring out the best techniques for making Poffins, learning how to calm down wild Pok?mon, or finding the best cures for sicknesses. But that's the least of it. Izzy also happens to be one of the most energetic, passionate, and extroverted Pok?mon trainers around. He adores being part of the action. He is constantly in the present, trying to live every moment like it was part of some great block party. Thing is, in Izzy's mind, everyone's invited! Some people might not love his annoying erratic energy all the time though. In some of his silliest moods, Izzy could ask a stranger to dance with him in the street, with absolutely no music, if he's got a really good song stuck in his head. He might also ask absolute strangers to battle him, not knowing whether they were a trainer or not. This guy lives for the fun of life, and if there's a potential for excitement, you can bet Izzy will be the first in line to be there. This gives him a distinct advantage at cutting through tense situations, but at the same time, he can be a little inappropriate when he really needs to be serious.
As you might guess, the phrase "Act your age" means absolutely nothing to this man. Sure, Izzy is really a very childish kind of person, which is why his grandparents don't approve of him. He practically bounces off the walls like an endless ball of energy nearly 24/7. But Izzy isn't just this crazy, wild guy. The one time he becomes a completely different person is when he actually chooses to be serious. For example, when he's grooming Pok?mon, he is almost like a parent, calm and composed, speaking gently and warmly. All that energy disappears, and he could sit there for hours, absolutely concentrated on whatever he's doing. But most of the time, Izzy's worst flaw is that he can sometimes be temperamental if things get TOO serious. He is really easy to upset, and is actually pretty emotional. He's far too proud to cry in public, but he's an absolute sap when he's by himself. He also tends to cry easily when angry, and he hates that about himself. He will throw fists if he's at a breaking point, and all in all, he really doesn't know how to handle himself in chaotic situations. Izzy is NOT one of those people to stay "cool, calm, and collected," unless it has to do with taking care of Pok?mon. He is flawed in many ways, but by Arceus, he will never admit any of this.
Other than that, Izzy is just... Izzy. One thing a lot of people don't know about him is that he has some talents in pop singing, too, and he does still sing for rave parties in Taranis City every now and then. But Izzy's life is Pok?mon, and he will stand by that until he's the Master Normal-type trainer and Pok?mon breeder number one!
History
Twenty-three years ago, Maribelle Merryweather, Pok?mon coordinator extraordinaire, met Austin Noile. She had run out of berries, and although she knew how to make only the best Poffins for her Pok?mon, she had a contest coming up and needed a remedy fast. Walking into the Taranis City MegaMart, she found only one man who had the best Poffins around. It was like some cliche romance story. They started talking about Poffins, and after a good half hour or so, Austin was asking Maribelle on a date. Charmed by this humble businessman, she accepted. Several months later, they married and bought a quaint little house with what their money could buy. And a year later, Isidore Noile was born. From the day he could walk, Isidore was a handful. He was a curious child, too curious, getting into anything he could open with his two little chubby hands. He somehow managed to break a whole set of his mother's precious glassware, eat several of his father's prepared Poffins before he took it to work, among many other heinous deeds. And as he grew up, life didn't get any easier on the exhausted Austin and Maribelle Noile. Izzy was constantly put into detentions, did poorly in his classes, and was even suspended at several points in elementary school because he got into fist fights with the other kids. The thing is, Izzy wasn't the instigator of most of those fights. He was always the runt of his class and was the center of all of the bullys' attention because of it. But Izzy always fought back, and somehow, ended up always getting the short end of the stick because of it.
Unfortunately, Maribelle's parents wouldn't have it. They were well-to-do folks, who suggested sending Izzy to some kind of rehabilitation center for his terrible record of behavior. They believed that they could teach Izzy how to behave properly, and begrudgingly, Maribelle let him stay with them for a whole year. That year was awful for Izzy, and it just so happened that his 11th birthday was in that very same year. Every kid knew what that special age was. His grandparents ignored his requests to get a Pok?mon, however. But Izzy wouldn't let them stop him. He ran away in the middle of the night, actually stealing some of his grandparent's money, food, and supplies to leave Taranis and head for Corsair Cove--where he hoped to get a Pok?mon to start his journey into the unknown. Fortunately, he was met with much kindness from Professor Labernum, who gave him his very first Pok?mon: a Miltank, who he nicknamed Tati. To Izzy, this Clefairy was more than just a Pok?mon, she was his symbol of freedom and a new life. He went on a long journey to head for Penumbra Town, thinking that he was going to begin the long road ahead to be the champion of the Elite Four. And for awhile, that was the simple dream of Isidore Noile.
But one day, Izzy met a boy who changed his life, named Travis Vint. It had been three years since he began his life as a trainer, and the trip had been solo for Izzy. But the boy he met was a total newbie trainer, and Izzy, naturally, took it upon himself to help him learn how to battle and catch Pok?mon properly. The two became fast friends, and they traveled across the Caligo region together. Izzy revisited some old cities and was proudly watching as his friend gained badge after badge. And then one day, his Pok?mon fell really ill. They were in the middle of the forest, heading toward Kepa City when Travis's Maractus caught an awful round of nausea and fevers. The only knowledge Izzy had at the time was of Poffins and Berries thanks to his parents, so he mixed up a little brew to help ease the fever and nausea, one step at a time. Travis was so amazed with Izzy's attentive care that he suggested the older boy become a Pok?mon Breeder or maybe even Doctor. And after some serious consideration, Izzy found his calling.
Izzy never finished the Caligo Gym challenge. Of course, that didn't stop Izzy from wanting to be a Pok?mon master. He has done some really intense traveling, trying to learn the best techniques for taking care of Pok?mon, while still training his Normal-type Pok?mon to be the best they can be. He has returned to Caligo to travel again, knowing that he still has a lot to see and a lot to learn. He hopes one day to prove to his grandparents on his mother's side that he is not a failure, and maybe even prove to himself that he is very capable of being number one. But if and when he does that, well, that's where his story begins here.

It had been only a few hours since they entered the Fallow Forest, yet it seemed like more than a day had passed with how slow their progress was going. Even Izzy was tired of seeing the same array of trees and flowers, and beside him, Travis was pretty much in the same dour mood. The other boy's Maractus following behind was shuffling slowly. Only Izzy's Clefairy, Tati, was happily bouncing a few feet ahead, scouting ahead for any sense of danger or wild Pok?mon. Izzy looked at the bouncing pink fairy Pok?mon with a smile, peering over at Travis, "Well, at least someone's happy to be here. Mmph. How long have we been in this mess?"
Travis smirked, looking down at his Poketch, "Three hours now, Iz. Three hours. Though, heeey, look, up there! Is that a clearing?" His eyes lit up as there was, indeed, a path through the forest that seemed to be its own little field. A perfect camping spot. Izzy's face immediately burst into a big, cheesy smile, and in his moment of excitement, he started skipping behind his Clefairy. "Aaaah! I can't believe it! I thought we'd have to camp out in the middle of nowhere. Yes! Yes yes! Okay, great. I will go ahead and start setting up the tent. Why don't you go look for some firewood? This place is full of Berries, so I guess we'll have to settle for some fruits and nuts tonight." Their dinner might have to be simple, but there was nothing that could quell Izzy's spirit right now. He was so excited to have found such a comfortable place to sleep for the night.
Travis was just about to go seek out some fine quality twigs when he noticed just how slowly his Maractus was following him. He blinked, peering at the cactus Pok?mon for awhile before he said, uncertain, "Um, Izzy, I think... my Maractus got sick all of a sudden." He reached up to feel its forehead and it squealed in fright. Izzy was at their sides immediately, having hopped right over. He looked the cactus Pok?mon up and down, assessing it as best he could before he said, "Looks like it must have caught it recently. It has a fever, for sure. Let's lay it down in the clearing. Have any Sitrus Berries? Maybe we can help to make it feel better. Bring me a spoon and my mother's mortar and pestle if you can, too." The other trainer nodded curtly, running over to the backpacks and shuffling through them. He quickly returned, bringing a few Sitrus Berries and the required utensils. Quickly, Izzy began working away, crushing the Sitrus Berries methodically, watching the Maractus all the while.
When he was done, he spooned some of the berry mush and brought it to the Maractus's mouth. "There, there, mister. You're going to feel better soon, it's a promise." Izzy smile had simmered down to a sweeter style, as his attention was now completely honed in on the Maractus. He was honestly only copying what he had learned from watching his parents tend to their Pok?mon, so this was all on a whim. The cactus Pok?mon murred a bit, confused, but soon opened its mouth and gulped down the mixture. It made a happy little squeak and Izzy grinned cheerfully. Nothing tasted sweeter than success!
