"Things are hotting up!"

The gym in Ithiel City is an understated yet beautiful building sheathed in a layer of natural volcanic rock. Magnificent twisted torches frame the large double-doors that lead into the fiery battleground. Inside, a string of trainers, most of whom are young and very attractive, hand-picked by Carly, block the way to the leader with rings of searing flames which leave the building an overwhelmingly hot and smoky arena.

Gym Leader Carly awaits challengers on a raised stage of solidified lava rock in all her flame-haired glory. She is so used to living in the blistering Ithiel heat that she relishes the sweltering environment in which she battles while trainers are usually left panting and gasping in her inferno. The gym is kept constantly at temperatures of over thirty degrees and has Torkoal-powered underground vents to create a permanent steamy haze. Whether or not they win the Flare Badge, trainers are bound to leave feeling the heat.

To reach the leader, one must first battle two trainers, both of whom will provide good experience fighting Fire-type Pokémon. Then, the trainer may approach the stage to challenge Leader Carly. If they win, they will be granted the Flare Badge and any additional gifts the leader chooses to bestow. If they lose, they may leave to heal and train, then return to re-battle her at any time.

Youngster Toby
A young boy quite new to Carly's gym and somewhat infatuated with her, he is full of energy and keen to show her just how strong he is.

Cooltrainer Alec
The dashing Alec is cocky and confident with his team of powerful Fire-types from around the world. He doesn't like to lose and has a flamboyant battle style that leaves some trainers reeling. The strongest trainer in the gym besides Carly, he has a hankering for the leader's position himself.
