PROFESSOR LAUREL'S LABORATORY
"Are you ready to start your Pok?mon journey?"
Lacewing's most significant point of interest is perhaps the very modern building right in the heart of town. This is a light, airy, newly built facility with long French windows and solar panels on the roof. On the outside it seems like a rather fancy house, but the inside is full of gleaming machinery and polished white floors, since it is a state of the art laboratory that houses the work and daily business of Professor J. Q. Laurel, Pokémon researcher and collector. Laurel is a cheerful, well-travelled man who is very approachable despite his ferocious intellect. He is also highly personable which makes him a popular choice for new trainers to come to when they start their Pokémon journeys.
Laurel's lab works closely with the Adoption Centre and runs a rehabilitation service as well, which means he always has some interesting Pokémon on the mend. Some of these are young and suitable as starters for the trainers who come in, and Laurel is excellent and choosing exactly the right one for each young novice who asks for his advice. He supplies Pokémon starter kits including Pokédexes and some Pokéballs and makes sure to set trainers off in the right direction when they've received all they need. The only Pokémon Laurel keeps long-term is Cirra, a mellow, gentle giant of a Tropius often to be seen wandering in the garden or out in town.
